Frontier Agriculture has expanded its network of BASIS approved crop protection stores, with the opening of a brand new store at its Cranswick site in East Yorkshire, bringing the total to 13 across the UK.

The new 6,500 square foot facility represents an investment of more than £100k and demonstrates Frontier's commitment to providing full support for its expert agronomy team and their customers.

Crop Protection stores are used to safely house essential products used by farmers during crop production to maximise yield and guard against disease, pest damage and weeds.

Frontier is growing its UK agronomy services and has recently enhanced the Yorkshire team with the recruitment of experienced agronomist, Stuart Campbell. Stuart will be working with existing and new Frontier customers in the area and joins an already strong sales and agronomy team.

Until now, Frontier's nearest crop protection store to customers in East Yorkshire was located at Topcliffe, in North Yorkshire.

John Speed, regional manager for Frontier and based at Cranswick says: 'This new store means that our local farmer customers will have an even more efficient delivery service available to them. We have a dedicated delivery vehicle based here which will offer a next-day service. Farmer customers will also be able to arrange to call in at the site and collect products if that is more convenient for them. It also means that our expert advisors will be able to more easily provide their customers with strategic crop protection advice and the products they need in order to implement that advice.'

Frontier has stated its intention to expand its agronomy team and services - the company now has 85 agronomists with more of them qualified to the highest level of BASIS Diploma than any other UK agricultural company.

Yorkshire is also the site for one of Frontier's three Trials Centres, where several hundred varieties of crop are being evaluated under scientific conditions to provide detailed information regarding agronomy and variety selection. This information helps Frontier to advise farmers on which products to use and how to apply them and, with the new Cranswick store, those products are now easier for farmers to access.
